How we built it

Converting a Step Van into a
Mobile Shower Facility

Find a truck

The van that was eventually transformed into our first bath house started its life as a plumber's truck.

Reconfigure the interior

The interior was gutted and a new partition welded into place to create separate units for two shower/bathroom units - one fore and one aft.

Install shower fixtures

Prefab shower stalls were installed. Then each unit was outfitted with a vanity sink, mirror, and toilet.

Connect the plumbing

Plumbing was installed to supply the sinks and showers and dispose of wastewater. A hot water heater, powered by an outboard generator, was mounted on the rear of the truck.

Get the truck "road-ready"

The engine was overhauled and tuned up. And necessary repairs, such as replacing a cracked windshield, were completed.

Apply custom graphics

As a final touch, a truck wrap was added to make the mobile shower unit instantly recognizable and help promote our mission.

"We have been so very blessed that all labor on the bathhouse has been donated."
